Reaching the historic centre
Piazza del Duomo is a natural first city destination, but the distance from your ship depends on its berth and the open port gates. Confirm whether walking is permitted and whether a shuttle or taxi is available. We do not give one universal walk time or promise a complimentary shuttle.
A short call: keep the plan central
A compact route around Piazza del Duomo, the cathedral exterior, Pescheria and part of Via Etnea offers a useful introduction. Add a food stop or a guided city walk only if its finish time leaves room for your return. Market activity and monument hours depend on the day.
A longer call: compare excursions carefully
Etna, Taormina and Syracuse involve travel outside Catania. Compare pickup, check-in, total duration and the exact return point against your all-aboard time. Mountain access and road conditions can alter plans; a full-day tour designed for hotel guests may not suit a port call.
